Wait, people seriously doubt the assumption that Victor can’t speak Japanese?

Honestly, I’m baffled that people find it so hard to believe the likely possibility that a Russian man who had never ever anything to do with Japan can’t speak the language.

But alright, if you’re one of those people (or if you just want to read a detailed explanation supported by scenes from the anime), let this be a “Victor and Yuuri actually communicate in English” Masterpost.

Hopefully by the end, we’ll all be able to laugh at this scene. (And maybe even stop rejecting the one logical and realistic aspect of you know, communication between people from different countries.)

Indexed: yuri on ice,  yeah this is what i thought,  the probability of a russian speaking japanese is low,  the probability of a russian speaking ENGLISH however is not,  casual reminder that english is pretty much a core subject in most country's curriculum,  i remember reading this ridiculous argument regarding the lack of credibility of yuuri/victor speaking english bc "they're in the countrysi,  like uh...english is a core subject in most japanese schools,  in fact english is a core subject in pretty much every country because of how useful and widespread the language is,  it baffles me that some people think it's more likely that they're both speaking japanese than english which is clearly not the case,  if we were to relate this to irl: i've traveled a lot for music and swim competitions and EVERYONE knows how to speak/understand SOME engli,  everyone has been able to communicate in the most basic english - in fact most people who travel competitively have a pretty decent grasp o,  i do like the evidence provided in the post,  i kinda ranted oops,
